Washington, DC, 9 APR, 2025 – Beginning April 9th at 12:01am, China will have an 84% additional tariff rate under the IEEPA Reciprocal Tariff Remedy, the President announced early in the evening on April 8th after Beijing missed the deadline. The rate has increased from 34% to 84%.

These duties are in addition to the general rate of duty, the Section 301 duties implemented in 2018 (ranging from 7.5% to 100%), the IEEPA duties issued February 2nd (20%) as well as antidumping and countervailing duties when applicable.

The reciprocal duty rate for China will not apply to the previously announced exemptions, including but not limited to goods subject to 232 duties and the attached Annex. The exemptions are attached.
